Tima is our first conformation Ridgeback. Her attitude and show potential were apparent even at 3 months of age. Although her AKC name, Ntima Kitoko, means “Beautiful Heart” in the African language Kikongo, a more appropriate name would have been “Wild Woman”. Tima will let nothing stand between her and a morsel of food. She can open crates, doors and will often jump up on and walk on the kitchen countertops in her quest for a crumb.
Although Tima is our resident mischief maker, her sparkle and enthusiasm make her a “stand out” in the show ring. She earned her Championship in 4 months, in less than 10 shows. In very limited local specialing, Tima achieved multiple BOB and BOS awards.
At the 2003 RRCUS National Specialty, she was awarded Best of Opposite Sex by Judge Mrs. Michele Billings. This was an incredible experience for us, our first conformation Ridgeback and our first National Specialty. A sincere ”thanks” to Patti Clark, Tima's first handler and our good friend.
Tima’s second phase of her show career was as a Special with Linda Clark. Linda expertly campaigned CH Wetu of Kalahari (Tima's sire) to 10 BIS, back-to-back Breed wins at the Westminster Dog Show with an unprecedented Hound Group 1 placement. Linda and Tima have were awarded multiple BOBs and Group placements. Tima also achieved her Canadian and International Championships.
