By the time puppies are 3 weeks old, their eyes and ears are open and they are up on all fours. We like to start socializing them at this age, particularly with children.
At four weeks of age, the puppies are alert, playful, and starting to display their individualities. Mara Lavitt lugged in her photo equipment and a lighting engineer (in the form of husband Hayne Bayless) to take formal portraits of the litter. It was quite a production but a lot of fun.
